Intermedia’s Encrypted Email Solution Comes to the UK
Providers of cloud services and the largest supplier of Microsoft Exchange hosting, Intermedia, have launched their policy-based Encrypted Email solution to UK-based customers. The solution is the easiest way of encrypting outgoing emails across the whole organisation. Individual users will be able to encrypt and send specific emails, whilst organisations will be able to set and enforce standard encryption policies for email communication. It also means that confidential communications are secure and comply with legislation.
Some organisations that operate within specific industries have to comply with ethical, fiduciary and regulatory legislation, ensuring that client’s personal information stays confidential. By using Intermedia’s Encrypted Email, they can comply with industry-specific privacy legislation, as well as reduce the risk of confidential data loss.
There are two levels of email encryption offered by Intermedia:
• Policy-based encrypted email: encrypts email based on company-wide rules and/or policies set up and managed by the customer, incorporating outgoing content filtering and with no additional software or plug-ins needed.
• User-level encrypted email: provides end-to-end encryption enabling customers to allocate specific employees or groups additional layers of encryption. Users click the ‘Secure’ button on the plug-in toolbar, set their encryption password, then hits ‘Send’.
The encrypted email solutions are supported by a globally recognised Certificate Authority, ensuring the SSL certificate is secure and trusted. Encrypted messages are digitally signed so can be validated as necessary, and the solution can encrypt any MS Office document, PDF file, image file and most other popular formats. Features include:
• Enforces compliance based on pre-defined policies and rules, reducing human error and minimising the risk of security breaches.
• Allows monitoring of email content, identifying confidential information that is about to leave the company, and track its progress to its destination.
• Add directly via the HostPilot® Control Panel, and manage policies through the Encrypted Email management console.
• No additional software or plug-ins needed – email can be sent to any recipient.
